We processed over 2,000 pairs of shoes at our Shoe Processing event last weekend. The shoes will be given to the homeless and those in need, free of charge, in the greater Los Angeles area! Thank you to Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU) under the leadership of Rob Zaremsky for organizing and running the Cleveland Stand Down on April 23, 2022. Shoes for the Homeless, Inc. participated. NEW SHOES (above) A chronically homeless gentleman has been without shoes for years. Wearing torn socks and a plastic bag to cover his feet, he developed a several foot problems. A big challenge for us was finding a pair of shoes that fit. We looked very hard for the terrific pair of shoes. Amongst all our shoes, we found an nearly new pair of size 22 shoes. After two years of not being able to get together, it was so nice to see our volunteers on Sunday at our shoe processing event! Shoe processing is an integral part of the process of distributing shoes. We take the shoes out of bags and boxes received from donors, check them for quality, match them in pairs, tie the shoe laces or put a rubber band around them, put them in categories and finally place them into bags of 10 pairs. A Two Year Search For Shoes!

Nathan is a homeless gentleman in his late forties who greatly needed a good pair of shoes. Homeless for three years, he has been living in a tent in Santa Monica, California for the past two years. Obtaining a pair of shoes was one of his greatest needs. He has been searching for shoes for two years! Wearing shoes that were falling apart caused Nathan knee pain, foot pain and painful corns.
